Accessibility Commitments Across Web Catalog and Shop Premises
Digital Accessibility Standards (WCAG 2.1 Level AA)
We strive to ensure that ceanshop.click remains accessible to people with visual, motor, auditory, and cognitive disabilities. We engineer this website according to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA criteria published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
Our digital catalog architecture includes the following concrete implementations:
- Strict Color Contrast: All body copy in our oxblood and cream palette satisfies or exceeds WCAG AA contrast thresholds. Text ink (#FCE0E0) maintains an 11.2:1 contrast ratio against our deep burgundy ground (#4A1F22), while secondary ink (#D0AEAE) maintains a 6.9:1 ratio, comfortably clearing the minimum 4.5:1 requirement.
- Keyboard Navigation: Every interactive element—including navigation links, modal toggles, mobile menus, and form inputs—is fully reachable and operable using keyboard input alone via Tab, Shift+Tab, and Enter/Space controls. Focus indicators are styled with prominent 2px solid outlines.
- Skip Navigation: A functional skip-to-content mechanism is embedded at the top of every document, allowing screen reader and keyboard operators to bypass repeating header links directly into main content.
- Semantic Markup: Pages employ standard HTML5 sectioning landmarks (<header>, <main>, <footer>, <nav>, <section>, <article>) and a single logical <h1> heading per page without skipped heading levels.
- Accessible Touch Targets: All buttons, form fields, and navigation targets are dimensioned with a minimum height of 44 pixels and ample padding to facilitate touch operation on mobile screens.
- Reduced Motion Support: For visitors who have enabled system-level motion reduction preferences (prefers-reduced-motion: reduce), all CSS transitions, transform animations, and layered parallax depths are immediately disabled.
Compatibility with Assistive Devices and Screen Readers
Our static markup is tested against modern browser engines and assistive technology combinations, including NVDA on Firefox and Windows, JAWS on Chromium, VoiceOver on macOS and iOS Safari, and TalkBack on Android.
Photographic assets carry descriptive alternative text detailing item materials, dimensions, and shop floor context rather than generic brand tags. Decorative icons use SVG sprites referenced with aria-hidden=“true” to prevent redundant verbalization during screen reader sweeps.
Our 3D object display degrades gracefully: where WebGL is unsupported or motion is restricted, the canvas is automatically bypassed and an accessible still image photograph with complete descriptive alt text remains permanently visible.
Physical Shop Floor Accessibility at 1201 Northwest Irving Street
Physical accessibility at our brick-and-mortar facility is integral to our trade. Our showroom and inventory counter at 1201 Northwest Irving Street in Portland’s Pearl District offers:
- Step-Free Entry: The primary street entrance on Northwest Irving Street features a flush street-level threshold with an automatic door assist paddle, accommodating manual wheelchairs, electric power chairs, mobility walkers, and utility strollers.
- Wide Warehouse Aisles: Our five main showroom aisles are spaced with a minimum clear clearance of 48 inches (122 cm) between wooden shelves and steel industrial racking, well above the 36-inch standard required by ADA guidelines.
- Service Counter Clearance: Our main consultation and wrapping desk features a dedicated 32-inch high accessible transaction section with wheelchair knee clearance, enabling comfortable face-to-face interaction with our sales consultant.
- Low-Shelf Arrangement: Core everyday consumables, preserves, and small kitchen wares are stocked between 24 and 48 inches from the concrete floor for reachable seated inspection. For goods held on upper tiers of warehouse steel racks, our consultant provides immediate hands-on retrieval.
- Flooring Surface: The shop floor is polished level industrial concrete without deep grout lines, high-pile rugs, or threshold steps that could impede wheeled mobility devices.
In-Person Assistance and Alternative Formats
Our sales consultants on the floor since 2026 are trained to assist visitors with diverse needs during regular operating hours:
- Guided Material Inspections: We will bring storage jars, enamel basins, cast iron pans, and heavy shelving components directly to the counter for close tactile examination and weight evaluation.
- Large Print Invoices: Printed receipts, quote sheets, and reservation tickets can be generated in 18-point high-contrast typography upon request at the desk.
- Curb Loading Assistance: For large or bulky goods—such as 600 lb rated steel utility racks, 60-litre galvanised tubs, or wooden crates—our floor staff will assist with loading into vehicles parked along Northwest Irving Street or at our rear loading dock.
- Service Animals: Certified service animals and guide dogs are fully welcome across all aisles of our showroom floor in accordance with Oregon state law and ADA Title III.
Continuous Testing and Known Limitations
We perform routine evaluations of our web pages following catalog updates. While we work diligently to ensure comprehensive coverage, some historical third-party PDF technical specification sheets or archived markdown documents may not yet feature complete heading structures or full tagging.
We remediate identified barriers on an ongoing basis. When a digital or physical accessibility challenge is discovered, our goal is to implement corrective modifications within fourteen business days.
